First, you wait three-quarters of a year, and then everything suddenly happens all at once: OpenAI has just released its video AI, Sora, for ChatGPT subscribers; already last night, a[presentation video](www.slashcam.de/news/single/60-Sekunden-Clips-und-konsistente-Charaktere---Ope-18987.html) leaked. Unfortunately, however,[Europe, the UK, and China](help.openai.com/en/articles/10250692-sora-supported-countries) are initially excluded.
;) Sora With the official launch (so far, only a select few filmmakers had access), the question of the cost of this AI fun is, of course, also answered. Unsurprisingly, OpenAI is integrating Sora into its existing subscription plans in a tiered manner. ChatGPT Pro customers get maximum access: Sora can generate clips of up to 20 seconds in 1080p, with a maximum of 500 prioritized videos per month and up to five at the same time. The Pro subscription introduced with ChatGPT o1, however, costs per month. ;) Sora demo clips In contrast, users with just a ChatGPT Plus subscription have limited capabilities—not only is the resolution reduced to 720p, and clip length limited to 5 seconds, but the videos also appear to include a watermark upon download. Additionally, only 50 prioritized video generations are allowed. Sora usage is billed via credits—Pro users have 10,000 credits per month, Plus users 1,000. The higher the calculated quality and the longer the duration, the more credits are consumed per generation. OpenAI plans to introduce even more differentiated pricing models next year. It is not yet clear whether additional credits can be purchased individually. ;) Sora interface FeaturesA dedicated user interface offers a wide range of features. Videos can be generated classically via text prompts or through image-to-video and video-to-video methods. Additionally, Sora provides features that give users more control over their creations. In addition to newly generated content, users can also upload their own clips or modify creations by other Sora users afterward. The following functions are available: Remix: - Elements in videos can be replaced, removed, or redesigned ;) Remix Re-Cut: - Successful sequences can be selected and temporally extended (by adding more lead-in or additional frames) Storyboard: - Sequences of different clips can be frame-accurately prompted and assembled, similar to a timeline ;) Storyboard Loop: - Endless clips can be created by trimming video frames, which Sora then converts into seamlessly repeating loops Transitions: - Two videos can be merged into a seamless clip ;) Composer window Style Presets: - Prompts can apparently be saved as recurring style presets 720p clips render 4x slower than 480p clips, and 1080p videos are 8x slower. SecurityThe videos generated by Sora are tagged with C2PA metadata. To later identify whether a video was created using Sora, OpenAI has also developed an internal search tool. This tool can apparently match technical attributes logged during the generation process. To prevent Sora from being misused for deepfakes, there are initially limited options for uploading images of people. Here are some demo clips:
