Panasonic has now released the major firmware update 2.0 for its mirrorless system camera
;) Panasonic GH6 with Atomos Ninja V RAW video data output via HDMI for Atomos Ninja V/V+.Firmware Update 2.0 enables Apple ProRes RAW capture using Atomos NINJA V u d V+ HDR monitor recorders. This allows the more powerful Ninja V+ to record 5.7K at 59.94/50/29.97/25/23.98p as well as C4K (Cinema 4K aka DCI 4K, i.e. 4,096 x 2,160) and also 119.88/100p, while the Ninja V can still record 5.7K at 29.97/25/23.98p and C4K at 59.94/50/29.97/25 and 23.98p. These recording options also require a firmware update for the Atomos Ninja V/V+ recorder in use. ;) New ProRes RAW recording formats with Atomos Ninja V recorders Coinciding with the firmware update, a special LUT (lookup table) designed exclusively for RAW video recorded with NINJA V + and NINJA V has also been released (gone online) by Panasonic av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/lut/s1h_raw_lut/, which provides the same color correction as V-Log/V-Gamut. This makes it easy to match and combine the colors of footage from Panasonic Varicam and EVA1 cameras. Internal recording of C4K and FullHD in ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422.Firmware Update 2.0 also enables internal recording in C4K (4,096 x 2,160) and FullHD (1,920 x 1,080) formats at 59.94/50/29.97/25/24/23.98p in ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 - this was previously only possible at 5.7K in these two formats. ;) New internal ProRes recording formats. Improved compatibility with DJI gimbal.Another feature of the new firmware is the expansion of compatibility with DJI&s RS 2 and RSC 2 gimbals (  here our review ), i.e. it is now supported their Active Track function.Thus, when the Raven Eye system is activated, an object can be marked via touchscreen from the cell phone or tablet, which is then independently tracked by the gimbal system including camera.  DJI RS 2 one-hand gimbal Panasonic Lumix GH6The Panasonic Lumix GH6 camera has some new features over its predecessor GH5 such as a 5.7K sensor that allows internal recording of 6K60p, 4K120p and FullHD/300 fps H.264, H.265 as well as 5.7K to 30p in Apple ProRes (but not RAW!). The new firmware update will also enable internal recording of DCI 4K as well as FullHD in ProRes, and external output at 12-bit 4:2:2 up to 4K resolution at 120p. Still missing: the external SSD recording.Panasonic had also announced (for the first time) the ability to record to SSDs via USB-C when it unveiled the GH6. This is practical for all application scenarios in which the GH6 is supposed to record something in non-stop continuous operation for hours - in these cases, it will be possible to record on large SSDs as storage media in the future, which should also be the cheapest mass storage medium for the GH6.
