Under the name LUMIX DC-G110 (G100 international), Panasonic today introduces a new MFT camera that is designed to appeal to Vloggers in particular. For this purpose the 20MPixel camera has a special fold-out and rotatable display for selfie recordings, as well as an integrated microphone connection with manual sound control.
As an additional special feature, 3 microphone capsules have been installed, which, using Nokia&s OZO technology, enable a directional recording of speech and sounds around the camera. This allows the audio recording direction to be controlled depending on face tracking. If the person moves to another side, the microphone can "follow" the recording:
The 20 megapixel sensor is not mounted in a movable way, but can use edge pixels for electronic stabilization. This can be combined with an optical stabilisation in the FS12032 kit optics, which Panasonic calls 5-axis HYBRID I.S. In 4K video mode, however, the stabilization is reduced from 5 possible axes to 4 degrees of freedom.
Not because of the inch, but for thermal reasons, the G110 can only record a maximum of 10 minutes at a time in 4K In FullHD, the maximum recording time is extended to 20 minutes. In FullHD, even slow-motion recordings with up to 120 fps are possible.
For social media, the camera can display various frames in the preview, which allow for the planned export format:
In addition to the 1.8 megapixel swivel display, a 3.8 megapixel viewfinder is also available for previewing. The V-Log profile pre-installed at no extra charge sounds interesting, but it only works in 8 bit (like all other formats).
Together with the extremely compact 12-32mm zoom lens, the camera appears very small. In an extended kit (or also available separately) there is a Selfie handle SHGR1, which offers the possibility to function as a mini tripod in addition to an additional release button.
The camera is to be delivered in three kit versions from 20 July: With 16% VAT, the basic set consisting of G110 and FS12032 will cost about 730 Euro. With additional Selfie handle SHGR1 the kit will cost about 779 Euro. And another kit without handle but with two mini zoom optics (FS12032 + FS35100) will be available for about 925 Euro.
