After Panasonic surprisingly presented the Lumix FZ82D bridge camera in the summer, two new camcorders have now followed. However, the 4K-capable HC-VX3 and the HC-V900 (FullHD only) are not completely new developments - as the successor to the VX11, which has been on the market since 2018, the VX3 brings some small improvements, but the inner workings seem to have remained largely the same.

A 1/2.5” type CMOS is still installed as the image converter together with an F1.8 lens, the 24x optical zoom starts at 25mm wide angle (KB equivalent). The optical image stabilizer features HYBRID O.I.S. with 5-axis correction and the Ball O.I.S. system.
It is not clear from the announcement whether 4K can now be recorded at a higher frame rate (the predecessor only has a maximum frame rate of 25p). While Panasonic itself does not yet have any specifications online, Teltec lists the camcorder with max. 3840x2160/25p; an American dealer, on the other hand, states max. 60p.
The autofocus function appears to have been improved, while a USB-C connection, a remote control connection and a touch display with a higher resolution are also new on board. The HC-VX3 is also equipped with timecode and audio LINE-IN.
The Panasonic HC-VX3E-K will be available from specialist retailers from November for 749 euros (RRP). (The predecessor VX11 is currently offered at a list price of 599 euros).
