RØDE has updated its Wireless GO wireless microphone system, which consists of two transmitters and a receiver and can be used with cameras and smartphones as well as a USB mic or makeshift small field recorder. A new addition to the third generation is 32-bit float for on-board recording in the transmitters - as with the Wireless Pro, it can now be used for backup recording without levels, as overmodulated or too quiet recordings can be corrected in post-production.

Both transmitters feature professional built-in omnidirectional microphones with the same improved design and updated preamp circuitry as the Wireless PRO system, as well as a dedicated record button to start and stop recordings and over 40 hours of on-board memory (Gen 2 had 24 hours).
Another new feature is the GainAssist technology, which is also familiar from the Wireless Pro. It comes into play when the sound is recorded directly in the camera and corresponds to an auto-gain in the broadest sense - the audio levels are dynamically balanced with the help of intelligent algorithms.
GainAssist is available in two different modes - Auto and Dynamic, with the latter producing a balanced signal and better preserving the dynamics of the recording. The function can, of course, also be switched off to manually adjust the 30dB flexible output gain. As before, the safe track function also allows you to record a second track in parallel, reduced by 12 dB, which also provides additional protection against overdriven signals.
As before, the transmission takes place in the 2.4 GHz frequency range with 128-bit encryption, according to RØDE almost latency-free, the range is up to 260 meters. The two small transmitters of the Wireless GO are now equipped with lockable connectors to provide greater security when using an external lavalier or similar. The transmitters can also be paired directly with a range of other compatible RØDE Series IV products, including the RØDECaster Pro II and Duo, the recently released RØDECaster Video and other wireless receivers in the Series IV range.
The small receiver has a small status display and can be slid onto the accessory shoe of a camera, for example, or attached to a strap or similar using a clip fastener. The sound is fed into the recording device of choice (camera, recorder, etc.) via a mini jack output and, if necessary, an adapter. Alternatively, the USB-C port of the receiver can be used to output the audio signal digitally. The system is automatically recognized and integrated by current computers as well as Android and iOS devices.
An intelligent Plug-in Power Detect function is designed to extend battery life in the field by automatically switching the Wireless GO on and off in sync with a connected camera. The receiver is also equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack that enables headphone monitoring with adjustable output levels and compatibility with TRRS microphones, such as headsets or lavaliers. Additional features include combined and split recording modes, marker drop, customizable buttons and flexible recording options.
The Wireless GO can be configured via a computer or smartphone using the RØDE Central App and is now available in a range of colors, with prices starting from €329.
RØDE is also launching a separately available Charge Case+ for the Wireless GO (Gen 3). It features an integrated battery that provides two full charges for up to 21 hours of operation and allows simultaneous data access to the entire system to transfer recordings, adjust settings and update firmware.
