Under the new brand Røde X, the Australian audio manufacturer Røde wants to specifically address gamers and streamers with two new USB microphones: The smaller and cheaper condenser microphone XCM-50, including a table stand, will be available for 189 euros. The dynamic Røde XDM-100, on the other hand, will cost 299 euros and also requires its own suspension, such as a tripod. The functionality of the XCM-50 is reminiscent of the Røde NT-USB Mini USB microphone, which has been available for some time, but weighs around 100 grams less. A high-quality condenser capsule with a narrow cardioid pick-up pattern is supposed to ensure detailed audio recordings with a focused sound. An integrated pop protection and the capsule suspension should significantly improve the quality compared to cheap solutions. ;) The Røde X XCM-50 The XDM-100, on the other hand, has a high-quality dynamic capsule for rich, natural audio recordings. In combination with the Revolution Preamp, the microphone is also said to provide excellent suppression of room noise. ;) The Røde X XDM-100 Both microphones have an internal DSP for advanced APHEX speech processing as well as a latency-free headphone output with level control and mute button. For this purpose, the headphones are connected directly to the microphones via a 3.5-millimetre headphone jack. A headphone extension cable is also included with both models. At the same time, Røde has also introduced a mixing software called Unify under the new "Røde X" brand. With this software, up to four microphones and six virtual audio devices (for example, a game or an app, a chat, music, system sounds or the browser) can be used as sources and mixed live under an interface optimised for streaming. ;) The Røde X Unify mixing interface The licence for Unify currently costs about 5 Euro/month or 45 Euro/year.
