Nikon has completed its fiscal year. As a listed company, the costs for the acquisition of RED were also published, amounting to 13.167 million yen, which corresponds to a dollar value of just under 85 million dollars. Many market observers consider this figure to be surprisingly low, which is now leading to much speculation. ;)
Are there other agreements between Nikon and RED? Why didn&t other companies strike this “bargain”? Did RED only want to sell to Nikon and no one else? Many questions that will probably not find an answer so quickly ... What is certain in any case is that Nikon can also show solid financial and sales figures quite independently of RED. Within the Imaging Products Business Group, Nikon was able to record a 10.3% increase in profit (year on year). According to Nikon, the Nikon Z8 and Zf in particular are responsible for this, supported by the rest of the Z camera portfolio. ;) Accordingly, there is also a cautiously positive outlook for the new financial year. Nikon expects sales to increase from 279.7 billion yen to 300.0 billion yen in 2024.
