REDCINE-X PRO now with massive acceleration via CUDA

[08:05 Fri,26.April 2019   by Thomas Richter]

RED has now released the REDCODE RAW Software Development Kit (SDK) and REDCINE-X PRO, introduced at last December, which provide Nvidia CUDA-accelerated decoding and debaying, enabling playback, editing and grading of 8K RED R3D videos in real time - so you can work with the original material without having to resort to proxies. The transcoding of videos via GPU is also accelerated up to 10 times.

The NVIDIA high-end GPUs Titan RTX and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti also offer enough performance for 8K (and of course 6K, 4K and 2K) real-time editing - relatively inexpensive graphics cards make the use of the specialized (almost 7,000 dollar) expensive RED Rocket-X transcoding card or multi-CPU systems superfluous. But also older, less powerful Nvidia GPUs of the Geforce, Titan or Quadro series accelerate the RED RAW workflow via CUDA when working with 4K, 5K or 6K material.

The new CUDA acceleration is now integrated into both the R3D SDK and REDCINE-X PRO (Version 51.0.47404), the RED tool suite for processing REDCODE RAW material.
