As Phil Holland pointed out, the latest beta of 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗘-𝗫 𝗣𝗿𝗼 adds support for 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗼𝗻 𝗡-𝗥𝗔𝗪. Corresponding .nev clips can thus be edited natively in the RED IPP2 workflow in the REDWideGamutRGB and Log3G10 color spaces.
Since RED's acquisition by Nikon, a stated goal has been to bring the two companies closer together and to make available technologies mutually usable. Through the support of N-Raw in RED's transcoding tool, users of Nikon's video DSLMs now get a new, free, professional tool for post-processing their raw footage; the software allows clips to be transcoded, scaled, cropped, or have color adjustments made.
At the same time, it will naturally also be somewhat more convenient to use Nikon Z cameras as accompanying B-roll cameras in RED productions when .nev files can be imported alongside R3D in RCX.
Last September, Nikon already released some
RED LUTs for N-Log.
REDCINE-X PRO is available for free for both Mac and Windows and converts selected RAW files into the RGB color space using demosaicing and color matrix algorithms. Timecode, white balance, and other metadata are preserved during RAW-RGB conversion.
