Rokoko Smartsuit Pro - Low budget motion capture via gyro sensors

From Denmark comes a new approach to make MotionCapture affordable for smaller indie filmmakers or VR developers. Rokoko uses gyro sensors as they are also found in smartphones instead of providing a person with tracking points and then recording their motion with many cameras. The Smartsuit Pro has 19 such sensors, which collect information about the position, orientation and acceleration of the individual body parts. The data is either stored locally or sent directly to a computer via WLAN; A small processor unit is attached to the back. Pic1 Advantage: Since no cameras are required, the MoCap Suit can be used to "log" movements at any location. On the other hand, a fairly comprehensive calibration is necessary to determine the exact locationOf the body parts to each other. Also the system is apparently (still) not able to capture spruenge, also one must not put on the back, in order not to block the WLAN signal (according to Hands-on of www.engadget.com / 2017/05/09 / this-mocap-suit-hollywood-quality-animation-at-indie-price / (Engadget)). The position data can be processed either in a free software by Rococo, or loaded into 3D programs like Unity, Blender or Maya become. A Rococo Smartsuit Pro costs 2,500 dollars, the delivery is currently running; Pre-financing was also on kickstarter, at that time still under the name Salto Suit. In planning is a once again cheaper suit for the hobby area, which is expected to be finished in 2018
