Roland V-02HD: small video mixer with many functions
[12:34 Tue,20.November 2018 by Thomas Richter]
Roland presented the new Roland V-02HD multi-format video mixer at the Inter BEE 2018 in Tokyo. It is particularly small and therefore predestined for mobile use for live mixing of the input of two cameras - for example to stream the video live at an event or output it on a large screen. The mixer can also be operated via its control panel or - to keep your hands free - via a special foot pedal.
The Roland V-02HD combines several functions in one device, it not only mixes the 4:4:4 (Y/Pb/Pr) 10-bit video feed of the two HDMI inputs (including cross-dissolve effect), but also functions as a scaler, input expander, audio embed/de-embedder, audio solution and also delivers video effects/compositing. The video of both inputs is adapted to the required output format and resolution - any format from VGA up to 1080p60 is accepted and output via the HDMI output. The control allows 14 VFX and 5 compositing effects such as a greenscreen keyer and titler with adjustable parameters to be applied to the video feed in real time.

The V-02HD can mix the 2-channel audio of the cameras and an external source (via the 3.5mm mini jack input) and output it via its headphone output for monitoring. The resulting sound mix is embedded in the video and output via HDMI. The audio functions include a 3-band EQ, high-pass filter, multi-band compressor, limiter and delay as well as a test signal and integrated audio effects.
Multi-Format
If there is a problem with the input source or a camera is not ready, the V-02HD can save a still image for immediate display. The V-02HD measures 160 x 108 x 54 mm and weighs 600 grams - the power comes via adapter. The V-02HD will be available worldwide from November at a price of around - the foot control (BOSS FS-5U, FS-6 or FS-7) is optionally available.
