The German actors& union Bundesverband Schauspiel e.V. (BFFS) and ver.di have, together with the Produktionsallianz, agreed on conditions governing the use of generative artificial intelligence ("AI") in film productions for the first time in Germany. The tariff agreement on the use of generative AI will come into effect on March 1, 2025, and will initially be valid until June 30, 2026. It is to be evaluated semi-annually to keep pace with the rapid development of AI in the film industry. ![]()
The tariff agreement only concerns the use of generative AI that creates new content via prompts; AI tools used for voice or video imitation or alteration in post-production, for example, are not covered. If generative AI is used to process, reshape, or replace acting work with digital replicas (avatars), the new regulation stipulates that the consent of the actors concerned must be obtained and remuneration paid. Following this first tariff agreement on AI, further agreements regarding the use of generative AI are to be made soon for other behind-the-camera employees. ![]() ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Erstmals Regeln für KI-Einsatz in der Filmproduktion |
