So if you feel like spicing up your videos with some AI imagination, you can try it out now via Runway's web service. You don't need a fast GPU or anything like that, but you upload your material to the Runway servers - with all the possible implications.
After free registration, you can drag and drop your own video into the browser. You can then enter either an image or a text prompt as the style default. Alternatively, ready-made templates can be selected.
As an additional parameter, a seed can be defined (in order to be able to generate the result again if required). Furthermore, the strength of the style can be set high. There is not much more to consider. After a short calculation time, the result can be viewed in the browser and downloaded.
Currently, Gen-1 only allows the generation of a maximum of 3 seconds of video. If the uploaded video is longer, only the first three seconds are converted. With the free access, only 37 seconds of material in SD resolution can currently be calculated. Via a credit system, higher resolutions (up to 4K) as well as professional export codecs can be used - including ProRes or PNG sequences with alpha channel.
To use Gen-1 to its full extent, per year is due, which, however, also includes the use of the other Runway services. However, the conversions are still not unlimited, because you get a maximum of 2250 credits per month, which corresponds to a video duration of 160 seconds. If you can assume that you will also discard some results, 160 seconds should be used up quickly with serious use. Additional credits can always be purchased, but cost per 1,000 credits.
