The new Software Update Package 1.3.0 is now available for the ARRI ALEXA 35. It includes support for the ProRes 3.8K 16:9 recording format, which was previously only available in ARRIRAW. With this format, the lowest possible data rate can be achieved in ProRes while at the same time meeting the 4K UHD specifications. In addition, this format has a smaller sensor area than the 4.6K 3:2 Open Gate, 4.6K 16:9 or 4K 16:9 sensor modes, ensuring that the light circle of most Super 35 format lenses covers the format.

Another new feature is the Audio Extension Module AEM-1, which adds output monitoring as a function, i.e. the ability to monitor the inputs while they are being routed and recorded in the system. It is activated by setting the monitoring source to CAM. In addition, the recorded sound can now be monitored via the headphone socket of the AEM-1 while the camera is playing back. (For these new features, however, the AEM-1 must also be updated to V1.1G (the update will follow shortly).
There are also improvements to the dynamic metadata. Most software implementations, including the ARRI MXF Library, used static metadata for fps and shutter angle. As a result, non-standardized values for these two parameters were masked in the dynamic metadata. As of SUP 1.3.0, the dynamic metadata will accurately represent the fps and shutter angle values.
There are also performance improvements and stability corrections to WiFi behavior, and an EBU R095 image line has been added to the camera's standard list of image lines for 16:9 sensor modes. Additional indirect lens user buttons for ENG style lenses are also added as the Lens Buttons menu is introduced in place of the Lens Ret user button. The following buttons can now be assigned: Lens RET1, Lens RET2, Lens RET3, Lens RET4, Lens ENG, Lens PROD, Lens VTR.
