A manually operated 85mm F1.4 lens is already available from Samyang also for the relatively new Canon RF mount -- now a correspondingly fast autofocus telephoto lens has been announced. The lens, developed from scratch, is with 9.8 cm similar in length as the manual lens, but with 584 g much lighter. Mount and housing are made of aluminium, other parts are made of plastic. The filter thread is 77 mm, the maximum diameter of the lens is 88 mm.
The optical construction consists of 11 glass lenses in 8 groups, including 4 high refractive lenses (HR) and one lens with especially low dispersion (ED). A Samyang-own Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) is also used to minimize imaging errors. The aperture consists of nine rounded blades. The angle of view is 29.9° at full format and 19.1° at APS-C, the closest focusing distance is 90 cm. The autofocus is driven by two linear ultrasonic motors.
The weatherproof Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 RF will be available from mid-June for 699 Euro.
