Western Digital hat für seine Marke SanDisk Professional das das modulare Speichersystem Pro-Blade vorgestellt, einer sehr schnellen SSD-basierten Speicherlösungen speziell für professionelle Workflows in der Filmproduktion. Es besteht aus mehreren Komponenten, im Zentrum steht das Pro-Blade SSD Mag, welches eine von Western Digitals NVMe-SSDs der neuen Serie SN740 mit einem eigenem stabilen Aluminium-Gehäuse kombiniert, welches unbeschadet Fälle aus bis zu drei Metern Höhe überstehen können und zudem auf eine Stoßfestigkeit von bis zu 1.800 kg aufweisen soll. ;) SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Speichersystem
Das Pro-Blade SSD Mag ist mit 11cm x 2.8cm x 0.7cm sehr kompakt und wird in drei unterschiedlichen Kapazitäten (1TB, 2TB sowie 4TB) angeboten. Es kann im tragbaren, aus Aluminium gefertigten SSD-Gehäuse Pro-Blade Transport eingesetzt werden und so mittels dessen USB-C Port mit USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Unterstützung als mobile SSD mit einer maximalen Lese- und auch Schreibgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 2.000 MB/s genutzt werden. ;) SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade SSD Mag Alternativ können bis zu vier Pro-Blade SSD Mags in der größeren Pro-Blade Station genutzt werden, welche per Thunderbolt 3 eine Übertagungsgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 3.000 MB/s erreicht. User können bis zu vier Pro-Blade SSD Mags mit einer Gesamtkapazität von bis zu 16TB (4x4TB) gleichzeitig laden und austauschen, um gleichzeitiges Offloading, 4K/8K/12K-Bearbeitung in Echtzeit und schnelle Kopien zu ermöglichen. ;) SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Transport The Pro-Blade Transport and Pro-Blade Station effectively act as readers for the small and highly portable (but with a proprietary interface) Pro-Blade SSD mags. These can be exchanged during operation in both cases. The advantage of this solution when working with large storage capacities - such as film shoots - compared to using multiple mobile SSD drives with USB-C ports is the small size of the individual Pro-Blade SSD mags and (at least compared to many other mobile solutions) the high read and write speed of 2,000 MB/S (at least if this is confirmed in practice). The aluminum casing of the SSD mags and the transport reader should provide sufficient cooling so that the stated maximum speeds can be kept stable. ;) SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Transport The Pro-Blade system could be an interesting storage solution for newer professional cameras that can record directly to external (portable) storage via USB-C, such as Blackmagic&s URSA and Pocket Cinema cameras. Instead of plugging and unplugging multiple external hard drives for longer recordings, a Pro-Blade Transport SSD enclosure on the camera would suffice, into which various SSD mags are plugged one after the other (while the camera is running). these can then be read out on the computer (macOS or Windows) also via Transport enclosure or via Pro-Blade Station for post-production. ;) SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Station anDisk Professional Pro-Blade - pricing and release dates.The  Pro-Blade SSD Mag will cost 210.99 euros in 1TB sizes, 2TB is expected to cost 347.99 euros and 4TB 690.99 euros - expected to ship from June 2022. The portable Pro-Blade Transport SSD enclosure will cost 84.99 euros without Pro-Blade SSD Mag, i.e. as a pure reader, 279.99 euros with 1TB Pro-Blade SSD Mag, 416.99 euros with 2TB and 759.99 euros with 4TB. It is expected to start shipping in June 2022.
