Atomos has released a firmware update (11.03.00) for its 5" HDR monitor, the Shinobi II (www.slashcam.de/news/single/Atomos-Shinobi-II--Touch-to-Focus--ARRI-False-Colo-18873.html), adding support for camera control on even more camera models, an improved touch focus function for already supported models, and other functional enhancements. Atomos Shinobi II Improved Touch Focus and New Camera ControlThe Atomos Shinobi II, a compact 1,500-nit monitor aimed at vloggers, creatives, and photographers, received touch focus functionality via a firmware update in October. This allows the Shinobi II monitor to be used like a camera&s touch display for AF positioning and activation. The new update 11.03.00 further optimizes this function and expands it to additional camera models. For supported cameras, setting a focus point in AF tracking mode is now possible. The following camera models now also support touch focus: Canon EOS R1, EOS R5 Mark II, and EOS R7; Nikon Z8; and Sony FX3 and FX30. In addition to the expanded touch focus support, the update also provides camera control for Fujifilm models (X-T5, X-T4, X-T3) and supports Fujifilm F-LOG2 Log/HDR conversions. Furthermore, bugs have been fixed, and the monitor&s reliability has been improved. Price and AvailabilityThe Atomos Shinobi II is available for purchase at around €370 (teltec.de/atomos-shinobi-ii.html?offid=1&affid=15). Firmware update 11.03.00 is available for download from the Atomos support website (www.atomos.com/product-support/?parent=shinobi).
