If you want to use your Canon FD, Contax Zeiss, Leica R, Mamiya 645, Nikon F or Olympus Zuiko OM lenses on an ARRI Alexa Mini LF, Alexa 35 or other ARRI cameras with LPL mount, you now have an easy-to-use and relatively inexpensive option in the form of the Cine Conversion Kits from Canadian manufacturer Simmod. ;)
The original lens mount of the above-mentioned manufacturers is simply removed by the user and replaced with an LPL mount made of brass. Simmod uses the threads with which the original lens mount was previously attached to mount the LPL mount. The advantage of this screwed solution should be a much more stable fit compared to an adapter solution. ;) For those who want to use their LPL-converted lenses on a Canon, Nikon, etc., Simmond also provides the corresponding adapter back to the original camera, including the LPL mount. This means that the lenses converted to LPL no longer have to be dismantled when changing cameras. The Canon FD conversion kits also seem to come with a so-called Dampen Controlled Gear (DCG) to de-click the aperture ring on the user side. The Simmod Cine Conversion Kits are around , which is considerably cheaper than a complete cine rehousing. If you need follow focus gears and uniform front diameters (for filter matte boxes etc.), Simmod has also been serving you for a long time.
