The optics specialist Sirui has announced its membership in the L-Mount Alliance and has introduced a new lens to match, the Aurora 85mm f/1.4 autofocus lens. It was presented (in November 2024) - at that time with the mount options Sony E, Nikon Z and Fujifilm X. The presentation already took place in November 2023. ![]()
Sirui Aurora 85mm f/1.4With a weight of 540g and dimensions of 80.3mm (D) x 101.7mm (L), the lens is compact; the tube is made of an aluminum alloy. Part of the optical design with 14 elements in 9 groups are one aspherical lens, 2 ED and 3 HRI lenses. This should minimize chromatic aberrations and stray light. ![]() Sirui Aurora AF 85mm F1.4 lens The minimum focusing distance is 85cm. An AF lock button can be found on the lens, as well as a "Click ON/OFF" switch, so the aperture can apparently be unclicked (this feature is not explicitly stated). The aperture consists of 15 blades. The front lens is coated with a fluorine coating (anti-fouling), and the lens is also said to be dust and weather resistant. Its filter thread measures 67mm. L-Mount and the AllianceThe L-Mount Alliance was announced by Leica Camera AG, Panasonic and Sigma at Photokina 2018 and promotes the unified L-Mount system as a common standard for mirrorless system cameras and lenses. In 2021 Leitz and in 2023 Samyang, Astrodesign and Blackmagic joined the Alliance - Sirui is now the youngest member. The L-Mount competes with the proprietary standards of individual manufacturers such as Sony&s E-Mount, Canon&s RF-Mount, Nikon&s Z-Mount, Fujifilm&s X-Mount and Micro Four Thirds (MFT). ![]() The L-Mount was introduced by Leica in 2015 and is now used by all manufacturers involved in the alliance as a non-proprietary lens mount for cameras. The universal compatibility and the diameter of 51.6 mm enables any combination of APS-C and full-frame cameras from different manufacturers with their lenses. No matter what the combination, virtually all quality and functional features of the different systems are fully retained. A major advantage of the L-Mount is its short flange focal distance of only 20 millimeters, which enables the construction of compact lenses and allows the adaptation of almost any other optical system. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Sirui wird Mitglied der L-Mount Alliance und stellt erstes Objektiv vor |
