The Chinese camera accessory manufacturer SmallRig has launched a global film competition to support filmmakers who deal with social issues. Filmmakers can win prize money totaling over 40,000 dollars. SmallRig is looking for compelling stories that highlight social issues on a global scale, including but not limited to marginalized communities lacking representation, global warming, animal welfare, economic and social inequality, health crises, cultural and social disparities, and gender inequality. The awards are judged by a panel of experts who consider factors such as storytelling technique, production quality and artistic creativity. In addition to the prizes awarded by the jury for the best films, there is also an award for the best up-and-coming filmmaker, for outstanding achievement and an audience award of 5,000 dollars. The awards are open to organizations and individuals worldwide.
