As the availability of the Canon EOS C400 approaches, corresponding rigging solutions are also appearing from accessory manufacturers. SmallRig has now launched a fairly comprehensive modular cage kit for the Canon EOS C400, which has some clever details.
The Handle Module - similar to the FX30/FX3 Extension Plates - allows the handle of the Canon EOS C400 to be equipped with additional rigging options.
And with the rear cheeseplate, SmallRig offers an option for moving V-mount batteries vertically so as not to move the rear interfaces of the C400 - depending on the size of the battery used.
If we see it correctly, the Canon BP-A30N should also be able to be operated in parallel - similar to C400 rig solutions from other accessory manufacturers - so that a hot swappable battery solution for long non-stop operating times is available.
SmallRig also seems to have thought about vertical operation for 09:16 formats for TikTok, YT Shorts and others, as the C400 Cage Kit also has corresponding mounts for vertical operation and, according to SmallRig, can be quickly converted accordingly.
However, if you prefer shoulder operation (and already have a corresponding shoulder rig), the SmallRig Advanced Cage Kit for the C400 also includes a corresponding extension cable for moving the C400 handle forwards.
