Sony is also back at the IBC with news for videofilmmakers -- the three compact 4K HDR camcorders XDCAM PXW-Z90, NXCAM HXR-NX80 and the FDR-AX700, all with 1.0 "type sensor (Exmor-RS stacked CMOS) and an AX100 style, but with some new features and functions. They feature a new hybrid autofocus system, which offers phase detection with 273 AF points and a newly developed AF algorithm, so that very precise focusing and tracking during recording is also guaranteed in 4K. The autofocus response time, the depth range for tracking and the switching sensitivity can be configured according to requirements. The display shows which image area is focused.
 S-Log3/S-Gamut3 functions are on board and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) for a simple HDR workflow. A 10bit recording is controlled by the cameras but only the Z90, which is the only one that supports the XAVC format (otherwise XAVC-S), and then only in FullHD mode -- 4K/UHD is written in 4:2:0 8 bit by all three camcorders and only with a maximum of 30p/25p, while in FHD besides a regular 50/60p recording also slow motion up to 120fps is available Super slow-motion pictures with up to 960 frames/second are offered in lower resolution. The initial focal length of the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens is 29mm in KB, the optical zoom is 12x (18x Clear Image Zoom). The 0.39 "OLED viewfinder resolves with 2359k pixels, the 3.5" display with 1.55 million pixels. Dual memory card slots allow for proxy, relay and simultaneous back-up recording. Also remote terminals and MI accessory shoe simd available as well as time code / UB (stamp) for multi-camera operation. The PXW-Z90 and NX80 also feature a removable handle for dual XLR audio input and a Content Browser Mobile smartphone app for remote control. The PXW-Z90 also offers 3G SDI connectivity for compatibility with existing broadcasting technology and networking capabilities, such as compatibility with XDCAM Air, Sony&s cloud-based ENG subscription service. ;) Detailed data are already available for all cameras, but no prices have been specified yet.
