Sony has introduced its first 8K camera at IBC 2017. The Sony UHC-8300 has three 1/1.25" 8K sensors and can handle 8K (7,680 x 4,320 pixels) HDR with up to 120p. 4K B4 lenses can be used with adapters (which are not yet available). The UHC-8300 is designed as a studio camera and supports S-Log3, HLG and ITU--R BT. 2020 and can simultaneously record and output video in 8K, 4K and HD HDR/SDR - each with different color spaces and Opto-Electrical Transfer Function (OETF). The 8K video is output via SDI and IP network connection.
A 4K/HD section of the 8K camera image can be selected and transmitted in real time. Accessories for HDC series cameras, such as viewfinders and remote control panels, are also compatible with the UHC-8300. The Sony UHC-8300 camera system can be ordered from October 2017.

already 2014 a first Super35 8K sensor and in 2016 the first
8K TV transmission via satellite has been carried out.
