Sound Devices has introduced the portable professional mixer/recorder 888, a new model of its Series 8, which is located between the 32-channel
![]() Sound Devices 888 All Sound Devices 8 Series mixer recorders feature special trim and fader controls, dedicated returns and coms, an internal timecode generator, AES in/out, 2 SD card slots, an internal 256 GB SSD, two L-mount batteries for operation and charging, and an updated audio architecture with multiple FPGAs. This architecture allows the mixer recorders to be fully routable: Any physical input can be sent to any track, bus or output. Dugan Automixing and Sound Devices& own MixAssist is also integrated into the 8-series mixer recorders. Both algorithms automatically attenuate unused microphones in multi-microphone applications and provide an additional tool for professional users. The 888 can record to three media (SSD plus two SD cards) simultaneously.
