Google unveiled its new video AI, Veo 2, in December, currently delivering the best results of all video models (www.slashcam.de/artikel/Meinung/Google-Veo-2-zeigt-neue-Perspektiven-fuer-die-Videoproduktion--alles-.html). Previously only available to select users of VideoFX, Google&s video generation lab tool, it&s now free for all users of its Shorts app.
![]() The version launched with Veo 2 allows the generation of videos up to 720p resolution and 8 seconds long (though demo clips show Veo 2 is capable of 4K clips). Google now integrates Veo 2 into Dream Screen, previously used for AI-generated backgrounds for YouTube Shorts. Veo 2 allows the generation of X-second videos via text prompt, either as a video background or as a supplement to one&s own film. Veo 2 has been improved and now generates twice as fast. Furthermore, Google claims Veo 2 understands real-world physics and human movement better, resulting in more detailed and realistic videos. Users can also specify an image style, lens, or cinematic effect (i.e., a specific camera movement) and choose from four generated options. This can then be trimmed at both ends using markers in the timeline. Generated clips are marked with an invisible SynthID watermark and unique labels, making it clear that the clips were AI-generated. Veo 2 in YouTube Shorts is available now to all users in the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans to expand to more regions, including Europe, in the future. Bild zur Newsmeldung:
