Vū Technologies has introduced a new compact all-in-one solution for virtual productions. The VU One Mini is specifically tailored to smaller production environments and budgets, offering the features of larger systems like the Vū One in a smaller, more flexible format. VU One Mini combines hardware and software into a single virtual production system, consisting of the following components: ;) VU ONE Mini
- a 3.6 x 2.13-meter LED wall with lighting control - integrated into the LED wall is a camera tracking system that allows virtual environments to be rendered in real time, with the correct perspective according to camera movement, enabling seamless transitions between real and digital elements. - an also integrated media server is controlled by the Virtual Studio software suite, which includes tools like Scene Forge, enabling virtual previsualization, and Vu.ai, an AI-powered platform for generating custom content. Together, these tools simplify the rapid creation of 2D and 3D environments, which can be directly integrated into the production workflow. - onboard is an extensive library of virtual environments with pre-made scenarios that can be customized and used as needed. ;) Virtual Studio Marketplace The key to the capabilities of the Vū One Mini lies in its integration with Vū’s Virtual Studio software platform, allowing seamless control of the LED wall, lighting, and cameras. The  advantages of virtual production - as seen in The Mandalorian, for example - compared to traditional greenscreen setups are numerous. The biggest advantages of virtual film production using real-time rendered backgrounds on LED walls are the direct visual feedback for everyone involved in the film (camera and direction as well as actors) and the total control over the set – including changes to the background or lighting mood. ;) The Mandalorian Virtual Production The latter becomes especially realistic, as the light from the background also illuminates the actors and objects in the foreground and is reflected by them. This also significantly speeds up set changes. All this leads to a considerable reduction in the time required for both pre-production and post-production. However, the VU One Mini is not cheap – with a price starting at ,000, it is less expensive than the VU One solutions with displays ranging from 10x4.57 to 4.88 x 2.74 meters. It is therefore more suitable for smaller productions to rent rather than buy, unless it is used continuously.
