Avid has released a new version of Media Composer (2023.8). The most noticeable new feature is the transcription function "AI-Enhanced ScriptSyne and PhraseFind". This new menu item allows you to create a script from the audio part of a clip and, for example, search for keywords in it or navigate in the timeline via the script. This also makes it much easier to create subtitles, of course.
A profile for Premiere switchers can also be found in these new settings. The Batch Subclip tool lets you "subclip" selected media by quickly generating them using In and Out points. ;) Avid Media Composer 2023.8 - User Interface In a previous version, editors could create, save, and use pre-made sequence templates by creating video and audio tracks with a sequence template tool. Now, any sequence template can be added to an existing sequence in the Timeline. In this way, tracks and track names can be nondestructively combined with the current timeline. Keyboard shortcuts can be assigned to almost all buttons in the Media Composer user interface. To see the corresponding button, the corresponding keyboard shortcut can now pop up as a pop-up tooltip display when the mouse is stopped over the corresponding function in the interface. Last but not least, the dynamic range in the mixers has been extended to up to 36 dB of clip gain, which may well be required on rare occasions. The faders still only move up to a maximum of +12 dB. However, a value of up to +36 dB can be set manually. ;) Avid Media Composer 2023.8 - Audio Fader Changes above 12 dB are indicated in the audio mixer interface with a yellow color to indicate potentially noisy clips.
