backup, an international festival for film and video productions developed using digital means, is calling for entries "in which aesthetics, style of narration, form of production and distribution depart from the traditional paths of analog cinema." Fittingly, the festival itself uses a rather interesting though somewhat obscure approach to sort all the entries: "Since we do not believe that a division into genres is in keeping with the times, the pre-selection commission will sort the contributions according to color. There will be the competition groups red, green, and blue, corresponding to the video signals RGB." Closing date is July 31, 2003. backup will take place in Weimar/Germany from October 30 - November 2, 2003.
