Phase One Industrial has announced a camera for drones which uses a 100 megapixel medium format sensor and can be equipped with different (also motorized) lenses. The iXM 100MP camera is waterproof to IP53 standard and is designed for special industrial applications such as terrain mapping or airborne inspection of structures. Phase One Industrial iXM 100MP The iXM 100MP uses Sony&s latest BSI (Backside Illuminated) sensor with a resolution of 100 megapixels, a dynamic range of 83 dB and a size of 33mm x 44mm. The camera has HDMI, USB-C and 10G Ethernet interfaces and uses XQD cards to store images and videos. The images are recorded in the highest resolution of 100MP/11,664 x 8,750 pixels as 14-bit RAW images with a frame rate of continuous 3 fps - UltraHD (3,840 x 2,160) at 30 fps and FullHD (1,920n x 1,080) at 60 fps. Lenses for Phase One Industrial iXM 100MP Matching the camera, Phase One also offers f/5.6 RSM lenses: a 35mm and 80mm fixed focus lens and an 80mm and 150mm motorized focus lens that can be remotely controlled. The iXM 100MP weighs 630 grams without lens and costs ,000, the iXM 50MP with half resolution ,000, the lenses ,000 each. Delivery is scheduled for the end of June. We are curious when the new Sony sensor will also be found in more consumer-oriented cameras.
