There are cutting programs that the graphics card to use some effects. However, this does not necessarily indicate AVCHD.
Edius is working with native AVCHD instead with the company's own HQ codec and is therefore extremely powerful.
Other Programs handle native AVCHD on the other hand, such as Sony Vegas. Currently it is on nVidia cards, since acceleration effect on these cards of one or another editing program supports it.
The only editing program I know, the effects with the nVidia GPU accelerated, is

At the moment I have an Nvidia 7800 GT. Possessions with a new mainboard, CPU and memory bought to upgrade the graphics but for now waived.
So far, I have always worked with Magix, because I was not so demanding of myself and functionality has been. But in future I would like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere CS4 use. Edius, I have tested and tells me not to. Vegas is really good and works with the super. Of AVCHD m2ts files together.
Adobe was in the test version does not. M2ts files play natively. That will probably be Vegas.
