Infoseite // Adobe Premiere beginner: Videos of Digital8 and convert AVCHD Camera

Frage von =PreDator=:

Hello,

'm a total novice as regards what video editing, but needs me now whether I will or not deal with the issue.

My father has an old Digital8 camera (; with Hi8 tapes) and a new AVCHD camera (;) with flash memory. From both cameras, I can digitally transfer the data to your PC (; one with firewire, even with usb). Now I want to record the raw material to edit, and save as to save space.

For the record / edit / save the Digital8 video I have taken so far Pinnacle Studio 9. Since the film was then stored as MPEG2, then I've burned to DVD.

Now I would like to bring both the AVCHD as synonymous, the Digital8 video in a space-saving digital format and edit evntl before that (; with Adobe Premiere). What format would you charge for that (; going as the mkv container with H.264 codec?)? Can Premiere as a recorded movie to convert to another format? In what format is included as a film of the kamere if he is transferred?

I hope jmd of you can help me there:)

PS: I had almost vegessen yet: Could it be that the Digigal8 signal is interlaced? I have noticed when watching the strange streaks on the PC? If so, you can deinterlace it?

Of if you do not want the outset, let it be! Nothing else comes after six months and not a whole when out;)

MP4 format with the H.264 codec is a very good choice: Strongly compressed (; to save space) in spite of considerable quality ...

Yes, Premiere can export to other formats. Go to the export settings in Premiere ...

I've already answered it in the other discussion. If you submit while with FireWire, it can be in any case, not MPEG-2, as you have written above, unless you encode the material can be while still in the same Übertragunsvorgang MPEG-2, which would be moronic.

Yes, synonymous true. DV footage is interlaced, it is usually to Bottom Field First (; lower field first).

For example, you can deinterlace it, adding it (in the editing program as progressive; exportierst frames). Important: Full-screen material is intended only for the pure use on computers. If you later want to create DVDs and want to watch them on TV, the material must be interlaced.

I opens up but not quite why you really want to bring your material to another format? The "disk space saving" argument is one in today's ridiculous prices for hard disks anymore. I hope you are aware that (any format conversion, unless uncompressed) quality loss brings with itself? Why do not you will make your material easy to 1:1 as it was of the camera and save it on external hard disks? The opportunity here is s.größten that you can not synonymous in the future easily edit your material. Now if you walk in any game much-compressed format using any special codecs, it may be good that they will soon die size when they come back later and better format your material and you can no longer good to use.

So if it does not necessarily have to be just like that, pointing of the camera was. You can edit everything and then I would export it easy after work again in the same format, again DV-AVI. If necessary, you can still play a copy on DVD, a view back up.

Jo, sorry I forgot to change the article here.

Quote: Important: Full-screen material is intended only for the pure use on computers.

Ok, then I will the D8 videos definitely be interlaced and burn as DVD-Video.

Quote: I opens up but not quite why you really want to bring your material to another format?

When AVCHD camera, I wanted to use stop a container format, which is synonymous with popular media players played (; mts is because an exotic bissl I think). So I thought s.mkv, mp4, or halt, as you have suggested.

Quote: I hope you are aware that (any format conversion, unless uncompressed) quality loss brings with itself?

I thought it would come only a loss of quality when you change the codec, but not the container format?

So would it make any difference whether I am now the mp4 container with h264 codec or container mts (; uses synonymous indeed the h264 codec) use, because both use the same codec yes?

Quote: DV-AVI is with a compression of 5:1 as well, so it is used in the professional sector as a standard format for Digitalisierungen and not MPEG-2 or even MPEG-4 ...

Well, 13 GB / hour is already a word. The D8-movies, I'll prefer to stay with DVD;)

And thanks for the tip with the "top field first", would keep me on it!

That you have correctly identified. The container format is no preference, the codec is crucial. However, many Programs and applications are more familiar with containers along better, more exotic than with. Could this be as synonymous: MP4 is probably of far more programs are supported, as this "mts" format, which now tell me honestly enough.

So on the AVCHD Camera, the video with the extension. Available mts. That's according to wikipedia the mpeg transport stream (: what is always synonymous) and, according http://labs.divx.com/node/8816

This exotic extension I wanted to stop into something more familiar, such as mp4.
