Frage von matze22:Hi,
I've expanded the RAM memory of my PC (before now 3 GB 4 GB)
And now of After Effects CS5 but only 2.9GB recognized ...
Why might that be? or what can you do that the whole 4 GB recognized?
In the 4 GB of system problems are detected and displayed synonymous not only in AE ...
My PC:
Windows Vista 64bit
4 GB DDR2-666

Antwort von Alf_300:
Only if you remove the Windows, give full 4GB (ref. 3.5)
Antwort von jwd96:
Open times AE, then go into the settings (Edit -> Preferences). There is a tab "memory and multiple processing" (memory & multiprocessing)
There you can choose how much memory for other Programs except AE, PPro ... should be reserved.
Windows Vista home 64 bit supports up to 8GB RAM

@ Alf_300
What does removing the Windows??
@ Jwd96
It says:
RAM installed: 2.7 GB
For other applications, reserved RAM: 1.5 GB (a "smaller" value here can not only select a higher!)
RAM available to AE: 1.2 GB
Antwort von Alf_300:
@ What that is, remove Windows?
This means that you have to 4GB synonymous with something left for the operating system, can mar. Windows can give you only the memory which it has left and there you are my 2.9GB well served.
Antwort von matze22:
But After Effects has yet been allocated 1.5 GB for other applications, right?
The strange thing is, as far as I can remember was before I upgraded the memory (3 GB before, now 4 GB) "installed RAM 3 GB even confessed! ALso something's wrong ...
Antwort von Alf_300:
Have you looked in the BIOS if 4GB are recognized?
(Answer is already given above -;)
Antwort von matze22:
The 4GB will be recognized as normal and are in it as synonymous with job> (right click) Properties ...
Only AE does not recognize ...
But how come I had with 3 GB of RAM in my AE at "installed RAM and 32 GB in there are now only 2.7?
Antwort von Mylenium:
So am I now see nothing wrong with that. The more RAM you have it, the more grabs already own the operating system. Since AE is generally not ever ran and 2.9 GB for applications running on Vista 64bit sounds perfectly normal, considering that Vista itself requires almost 1 GB. Since you can rotate and screws, as you will, that will not change and only stops when you have that much RAM in there lives at some point the operating system can hold all the components permanently in memory and they no longer need to swap dynamically. That is Vista, depending on the configuration between 1.6 and 2.1 GB would be so with 6GB of memory is theoretically possible.

ok, that sounds "mean" anything comprehensible way ...
But I have now done some tests:
1. I have made out the new RAM installed bolt back and the old ...
=> AE actually shows 3GB!!
2. With
3 GB of RAM I get the RAM preview preview and 30 seconds with the
4 GB of RAM I get 22 seconds!
As for bite can be, if one is upgrading the RAM (1 GB more) that you then can play less than before preview??
Antwort von Mylenium:
Oops think in absolute terms does not bring you. What counts is the range of continuous space available and as I tried to explain the part that Windoze branches of its own. When the operating system uses less memory address other areas as and does not load certain DLLs and services completely. In addition there is a yard long at Microsoft sites. Conversely, this means that this may be more contiguous to other applications is free - as long as none of the files and not geledenene functions are required and must be recharged. On the other hand, so when 4GB occur exactly that - it will be loaded in advance of more data and depending on its storage area, they can make sure that just is not so much zusammnhängender memory is available. That you can actually have little effect. Sure you can start with the settings for Deien services such as "fat" services like the mist of all the Apple / iTunes hide, but whether the more now because maybe 100MB worth rumzuprobieren there for hours, is another question. As I said, I do not see as much room. It would make more sense, equal to 8GB or more to go ...

You have a single 4Gb RAM-bars? At what speed?
And an old 3GB bar that you no longer use?
Or you have additional 1Gb built it?
Warning: This error could be the RAM speed throttled to the motherboard, if you retrofit a slow 1Gb bars.
Greetings!

So I made two new pure-2GB-bolt (same Manufacturer, which is 2 exactly identical) ...
2 GB DDR2 DIMM (PC-6400 DDR2-800) before a 1 GB and a 2 GB bar was there ...
The problem is, I can expand the memory any more, because my PC has only two RAM slots!
Or is there at all synonymous 4GB RAM transom?
So that you could make it were purely theoretical 8 GB?
Antwort von Blackeagle123:
Or is there at all synonymous 4GB RAM transom? Yes, it is synonymous. But they are very expensive.
If you're using your 3Gb bars, then what exactly is in Windows? I would have said that there is a problem in the display of AfterFX (even if there was previously 32Gb Ram), but if you have less rendering time, there seems to be a real problem somewhere.
So in Windows and in BIOS are being shown the 4Gb?
Then it's probably the Windows problem, wrote of the Mylenium.
Greetings!

If the 3 GB are in it (ie 1 x 2 GB and 1x 1 GB) is then synonymous Widnows in the 3 GB in it ...
Yes, the 4GB will be displayed normally in Win as synonymous in the BIOS

Now comes the absolute gag:
I have the old 2 GB cleansed bars and one of the new 2 GB bar ...
Now, as the After Effects 2.9 GB RAM (previously 2.7) and the preview is about 27 seconds (was 22 sec )....
Curiously, the new RAM transom "really" faster!
(The new one is DDR2-800, the old DDR2-666)
