Frage von pit15:Who can give me information?
Problem: I want all of my DVD's to archive a large, external hard to get them of there by streaming (eg with the D2Box and the X-box) on the Television - active film archive.
Now I started to convert the DVD's.
Original DVD's first convert with with DVD Decrypter and then with auto GK-Avisynth 2.5. Copies directly with AVi Synth 2.5
Have opted for DivX format.
Question 1
Is this really the best format for it to later conjure up directly on the television and look for in good quality?
Question 2
Have found that when I copy the original DVD and DVD's as avi rausbekomme usually only 720 x 304 or 320, regardless of whether I am in AviSynth - Auto or minimum of 720 set for Divx.
Is that ok?
Who can help me? Thank you in advance. Pit15

Hi Pit,
why you walk the already compressed videos (MPEG2) into another format for compression (DivX)? Perhaps it would be interesting to rip the DVDs only, ie the picture-and sound data intact (!) Copy to your hard drive too?

Thank you Mark for your reply.
As described, I would like to have everything on the plate directly to using Media Center Television movies from the recall.
They told me DivX - so mpg4 a relatively new Komressionsverfahren with is the future. Mpg2 would be a discontinued model. Mpg 4 has a good Qualtiät and requires less space (true, I have already noted).
I have been converted about 60%. Remarkable thing about it is that I had some movies with 720 x 576, he Resolutionumwandeln, but many come in with only 720 x 304, 340, 400sowieso and over 500. Even with the original DVD conversion (eg Pearl Harbor) I only get 720 x 340th
Now I wonder whether this is sufficient Resolutionfür the television, if you want to go to the new television (flat screen with higher resolution).
What do you think?
Thank you for your effort with me.

So called MPEG2 as a discontinued model to find eich somewhat premature. Nevertheless, all commercial DVDs are being encoded in MPEG2 method, and I suppose that is synonymous for a while longer remain so. And very few DVD players can play DivX synonymous.
I think the method of Markus is there much more effective and meaningful. Since any additional compression or conversion to a different compression format, the quality is certainly not better, but are more likely to be worse.

MPEG2 that is an outdated model, sometimes telling someone who is now a brand new HDV camcorder to buy ... ;-)
