Hi folks,
'm an absolute newbie and experiment since a few weeks with my HV30 rum.
Now it struck me a little uncomfortable:
The picture, to me the LCD or Viewfinder provides the Cam is smaller than the actual picture, if I capture the tape.
I know now is not whether the camcorders in general or specifically it is a "quirk" of the HV30, or just a setting that I have overlooked.
In any case, it is very uncomfortable, because I have so often times (at 0 zoom) the lens hood, a light source or the Micro-Angel Picture hanging in, although I do not shoot while in the Display / Viewfinder see.
I might get later in Final Cut Express after the Picture by approximately 15% larger scale (it has approximately the desired size), but this would be an afterthought, in principle, digital zoom and the impact on the quality.
Hope my problem is understandable?

Good morning,
this "problem" is in every camera available. So, not only with your HV30. (Although I think in that expensive, you can still set). What appears is the only safe area (as in old TV shows would be).
Remedy would create an external monitor (eg Firewire out on PC with OnLocation).
There are certainly people in the forum which is better able to explain, I have to fast but not synonymous found that the issue ever been raised.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Did not know that the "overscan" is, otherwise I would have sought and found;)
I still find it annoying, to assess whether now my Angel / light in the picture or not ...
