A buddy sent me a burned DVD with information, homemade video clips, etc., the DVD does not recognize my DVD drive, however. But the TV recognizes it .... what can I do??

This case I was once synonymous. DVD running on two machines, and the third, you would not.
I then instead of a DVD + DVD-burning and it went on.
For other discs, then stepped on this issue any longer.

Your DVD is probably incorrect and the error of your drive can not correct it.

You could be the contents of the DVD copy of someone else on a new disc and then see whether it works. If this DVD is an isolated case, then it would work, yes.
