I do not know if it help, but I had a similar problem.
Front panel Firewire port was only my motherboard has no Firewire So Dummy (gone So for me, dum)
On the camera, you can convert usb to firewire, perhaps of the Camera menu.
Is it likely does not even start times

If your calculator has one OHCI compliant IEEE1394 port (firewire) you need no drivers ....
