Hello,
S.Wochenende I have a Canon XL1S bought on Ebay. The day I tried it now and be a lot of problems:
1. Often I get when connecting or inserting a new cartridge in the error message "Remove the Cassette". I take it out and then put them back in, then the message is gone.
2. Sometimes the camera on, sometimes not.
3. Transitions between shots last forever and there are blocks in the Picture.
4. Ab and I have to Recording with large horizontal stripes on which even an old picture is to be seen and "including" running the new film.
I am now quite desperate. Am I verarscht and you have sent me a broken camera angedreht? I know there are many professionals with thick budget, but for me 1,250 euros were much money. I could really cry. : (

You could you provide a cleaning cartridge
(I know there are people who hate cleaning cartridges ...), and short times (!) Run.
Warranty is probably not it be?

My old cam so synonymous has had similar problems ...
then I looked at a Sony cleaning cassette purchased (which are damn expensive, I am afraid to say!) But it's worth it! After that everything works perfectly ...

Sony cleaning cartridge ... ... which are damn expensive ... There are occasionally used, consisting of five Sony Premium tapes and a cleaning tape, to the price, the other five times already recording tapes alone cost.

Hi,
not equal in panic - that's me in my - at that time brand new - Canon XM-1 with TDK tapes and when I passed - also brand new - XM-2 with Sony premium tapes! The XM-1 + TDK made blocks - for the very first use! - And the XM-2 + SONY premium you described of the strip, or "blue without time code," meaning they took at times nothing at all on.

According to my supplier as it is in the XM-2 in any case, the Sony premium volumes used with the XM-1 ran flawlessly.
The problem is that the tapes are too soft for the head of your camera and the tiny head gap zuschmieren. Also, I noticed that in a package of 5 SONY premium at least one tape was completely unusable - perhaps too warm stored?
Ie 1 Step:
- Reinigungstape max. 10 sec run (only in PLAY - never in REC).
- Maybe even a 2nd Mal
- Very hard bands - such as Sony or Panasonic EXCELLENCE --
use the other to lubricate the head.
If it is a used camera, the video may even be due to head - but first, I think that Reinigungstape + Other woven fabrics are the solution because I have exactly the same problem with two brand new cameras had.
How old is the camera for? My XM-1, which are now propagated this error shows, industrious than 4 years old now and was given a new head gegoennt.

I had the same problem with my XM-1, but without repair (300eu), there was nothing to do. Cleaning cartridge, etc. all in vain. I maintain synonymous, because that Canon really trashy, because since the repair (several parts have been replaced) I never had problems again, no preference what tapes I've used.

I got up on Ebay recently with the "Skate Dolly" never had problems.
I think you should write to the seller, and explain to him that either of you to him the maintenance costs would be reimbursed or have the camera want to give back.

So I got this Probs never had the past few years.
My cam was synonymous but not used for 100 tapes.
