'm new here and had trouble following what has struck me today.
my Canon XM2 can not be sharp or blurred manual represent. when I press the button that appears in the display on MF, but I can rotate s.rad as I want - it just happens nothing.

Beginners camcorder does not need this function, they do not have many manual options.

Even with the normal lens without intent, there are situations where not sharp can be, for example, if you're too close s.Objekt. Because you can then rotate synonymous at the ring as long as you want.
You have the test under normal conditions already done? Eg object 2 m away, rangezoomt with automatic transmission, automatic transmission is sharp, switch to manual, turn on the Ring, sharpness level is shifted.

I can not imagine that anything is broken ..

Have you not even noticed that the camcorder, despite the correct status indicator still can not manual focus. - Always go by aging "of only" some things broken. This is nothing unusual and is not synonymous to your camcorder or electronic devices.
