Frage von freizeitgeniesser:I consider myself an external hardware encoder zuzulegen,
look but in the case of the Canopus ADVC-55 is not quite through,
what rauskommt format.
As input you have an analog / digital source, and as
A Firewire output, which then on the computer
transfers. But what is transferred? the changing
digital / analog signal that is in the box for the data
for the computer was converted? What Filesize
consequent fall in bsw. 90-min video tape?
My wish is analog / digital material via a
external Wandlerbox in a data stream to Mpeg 2
transform, without that I have with several gigabytes
be expected. A 90-minute videotape should
by the data size is not larger than what a DVD draufpasst. The best would be simply an MPEG 2 file.
Finished the Canopus - Box these external conversion,
or must I use the material once more through a program
in the computer and then transcode to view it as a file
to shrink?
Thank you for your help and reply
Antwort von Marco:
The ADVC-55 is a DV converter. Ie it converts an analog signal of the outside to DV in order of a PC to be loaded from a PC or an upcoming DV signal to an analog signal, for example, to put it on a commercial TV to be able to play. The data after digitization is it about 3.6 MByte / sec.
Direct MPEG-2-conversion with this device can not be made. There are products such as the MPEG-Pro EMR of Canopus.

Okay, but this much I do not wish to spend!
What there is for converter card in the price segment
of 200 euros an analog / digital signal into a

Thanks for the quick help

thank you again for the quick response

If you're tired of blanks - what then? - Then you still only one solution:
"Multimedia box with hard drive, MPEG, DivX and god knows what will play.
Since missing me but the overview. Google mal.

What is with the Plextor hardware encoder - not the latest, there is already a criticism on the net, but the previous model, so that: ConvertX PX-M402U .. Did anyone, and can tell me how the picture quality of the MPEG 2 stream is? Or I have something wrong in that it is not a purely external solution is to encode?
So, my problem is that my DVD recorder of the Yamaha 2004 should be in a good image resolution requires, but sometimes moody dropouts generated or picture hangers, or crash. Furthermore, I said it as fed up with blanks to consume, then at each corner with me rumfliegen. So I look for another solution, to give me a small and flexible film collection for private use them, not in an HD recorder stuck.
I already have with DVD s.PC transformation experiments, but
honest so this is a science in itself, very time consuming.
For suggestions on this path to a better solution that I would be very grateful

Hello Epicures leisure,
synonymous always got the same question: What is the practical solution of VHS movies (of VHS-C tapes on VHS 15 years old recordings, tapes and now Video8 MiniDV tapes v.Panasonic NV-GS-75) on DVD to bring and then next to hard drive.
After extensive research (pp. Posts 17.11.06 and 5.4.06), I have decided and am sort of happy:
Since cca.4 weeks PANASONIC owner of a DRM-EH 75, the possibilities here his volumes on DVD are contrary to my view the best of what you can do.
Dubbing the tapes (VHS scart in of VCR, RCA in Voedeo 8, Mini DV input to DV) on hard drive, the whole tape without stopping. Then divide the recording (image exactly, dhStörungen on the tape simply rausschneiden etc.), then for the chapter and a title on the entire DVD + / -, DVD-RW + / -, DVD-RAM burn if desired finalize and simply enjoy .
Clear that in the VHS recordings are no longer regarded as purely rauskommt comes, but the quality in XP mode is very good. In the tapes of Video 8 no visible loss of image and in DV anyway.
File edition is in VOB files. This can be quite simple on the PC hard drive to where they can be dealt with next.
No speech of the normal television reception facilities in operation.
Program will aufgenommen.Man can gleichzeig another hard drive on previously recorded movie or a DVD.
For me the best Lösung.Meine posts has already been called a hundred times and my last question, I have until now received no reply.
Perhaps you are my comments hilfeich.

Hello, was guest, here is my question to which I have received no reply:
Who benefits yet to digitize on the PC (very time, the right hardware, appropriate software, not a satisfactory outcome, difficult finding the correct settings, etc.) provides the I ask on my personal experience to answer.

That comes from when you Posts selectively for the typical punctuation (?) Absucht to questions. ;-)
Who benefits yet to digitize on the PC sees the [...] I ask on my personal experience to answer. There are several reasons for digitization by A / D converter say: You will receive directly a loss-free intersecting visible DV-AVI and not MPEG2 / AC3 compression, which zipper-like nested in a VOB file exists. This gives you freedom of choice in video editing programs and are not those beginner programs that are DVD-video editing. Also, the PC is not so powerful to be able to fluently DV edit pages.
... (very time consuming ... What is the increased time required when digitizing s.PC lie? The same goes in real time as the dubbing of recordings to a DVD recorder. On the contrary, while s.PC the data already on the hard drive is available immediately and can be dealt with, the first DVD video ripped and compressed video - and audio data, if necessary demultiplext and decompress.
right hardware ... That a proper hardware is needed on each type of digitization. Even your DVD recorder is the ultimate hardware for digitizing, that just because a severely compressed distribution format comes out. Who just his videos on DVD and wants to play anyway no possibility of signal optimization, which may be using VHS-DVD recorder combo do.
... right software ... What you mean by that, now I do not entirely successful. A DV-AVI, you can even with the movie making process, but a DVD with only a few (mostly entry-level) programs. Or until you have everything Demultiplexing and decompress before a specific video editing program that can be used. This costs time again.
... not a satisfactory outcome ... What did you think made that a poor outcome in digitizing out? - You compare but hopefully not cheap USB Videograbber with the services of a regular DVD recorder? And where / how did you the result of digitization assessed?
... difficult finding the correct settings, etc.) That I do not understand. An A / D converter takes analog signals, digitizes them and gives them as a DV stream s.den computer. This is so simple that most A / D converters have no control. - Or do you mean the many variables of a Canopus ADVC-300?

The mE ADVC55 can only analog to digital (DV Firewire) transform. The price of 150, - is probably fully justified. For 100, - more you get a device (ADVC110), the analog output may be synonymous, for example: a television monitor as a PC or s.den times a VHS directly from the computer to draw.
