You can test with a standardized chart (link hab ich leider grad not there, but what's there for download) your display devices, at least roughly so that the test color / grayscale look similar at all times and at least in the eye with all the information contained in the Picture to distinguish are.
Otherwise you can not (very) much, because when you film somebody else and give him on his television to watch, looks like a completely different story. Furthermore, the various devices simply adjusted for different applications (computer monitor, usually for hours to allow ermuedungsfreies read, television is usually always "false" set, etc.).
