Hi,

I want Linux DVD of a movie in the DV format. Until now, can I do this with mencoder with the option-ovc libdv

Unfortunately, I do not have much info on libdv found. On the home page was that there is still no documentation exists.

Are there any options, with whom I can influence the quality (bitrate, compression strength, etc.). Or is that when DV is generally not possible?

General: good for the libdv something?

Are there alternatives?

With DV. Avi fix everything, because nothing can and needs to be set. The codec is integrated into Microsoft Windows, you can encode the movie with my Maker.

Lossless compression does not exist. Compress data means both mathematically to compress / to close "as synonymous data set by omitting of Picture-u / o Tonbestandteilen reduced.
Your video on the DVD is definitely more compressed than DV material. A transcoding of MPEG2 to DV will hardly reduce the quality. But try talking about studying.

Of course, there are lossless compression. This is the case if the data exactly (ie binary identical) can be decoded again. Any ZIP program can do that

And how do I get with HuffYUV of DV to DVD? Or maybe not?

HuffYUV is just a codec like DV. A DVD uses MPEG2 as the codec. You can of course, the MPEG2 HuffYUV in the DVD and then convert HuffYUV in DV. Bring nothing but, except that it lasts longer.

HELLO!
I have the same as wowbagger, I have a DVD to convert DV to premiere in the material to edit.

usually my older computer is working perfectly with fast of the miniDV rehearsed material. if I now of the encoded DVD material in premiere try to play or edit, then the already much lansgamer, everything must be rendered, ... (converted with Canopus procoder2)

I like the war so that the converted material can be processed just as "fresh-rehearsed?
on what should I look ...?

Why? Better not. And the original MPEG2 material of the DVD can eg mW with "womble" (http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cb-Tests-Software-Womble-MPEG- Video Wizard DVD_1318819.html)

On the topic of the DVD 2 DV coding I would say this is relatively uncommon. Because when we already have a DVD material Kompremiertes format which is smaller than wessentlich DV (small in relation to the throughput rate.)

This is / should be synonymous the reason why DVD material "slower" is processed as the aforementioned "freshly oiled" (DV) video. (If yes then extrapolated - ie synonymous larger)

Friend should also with a DVD software (such as DVD2AVI, DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter), the 1:1 DVD material on the plate to take it as *. avi file in a progi next zubearbeiten.
