Infoseite // Convert HDV

Frage von schlaflos011:

Hello,

I have the following problem:
110 minutes of 1080i HDV material to be an event on a video DVD.
So far I have only ever shorter HDV clips from Final Cut as a Quicktime and exported to iDVD or Toast as a DVD (without problems) burned.

This Quicktime file is now 20GB and I have it in toast into the DVD Video folder and pulled burned.

The problem is the poor quality (grainy) especially in fast movements and pans.

About tips, I would be very grateful. (Is it even possible 2h material in good Qulaität on a DVD (video DVD) to get?

About your experience as MPEG COMPRESSOR STREAMCLIP or settings I would be delighted.

Mmmmmmmmh, the yes depends primarily of the data from.
So about 22 minutes about 1 GB in a 8000 kbps data rate (variable). (FOR DV!) (My experience)

As does so only to try and find its own compromise.

In a video DVD is down to 7500 kbps.

As you are so quick movements and pans in it did, I would in any case, the variable bitrate recommend it! Actually, one way or another: D

Is a good encoder with readily available. I use TMPGEnc to there but as far as I know only for Windows. You should in all cases to use variable bitrate and 2-pass encoding it. The average bitrate should be around 5000 kbps, ie at variable bit rate encoder and still good for a good result.

Thank you for the quick reply. But should I now the HDV material in DV format? (eg with Quicktime Conversion in Final Cut) or MPEG Streamclip or Compressor try a different setting?

I know myself with the Mac Tools is not so. Can you not FinalCut directly from an MPEG2 with variable bitrate and PAL Resolutionexportieren?

Antwort von Steadycameraman:

Yes you can try both times.

When importing into the computer.
OR
You play the HDV as an AND walking around it.

Depending on how you like the quality. Must not the entire video material to restore, at the test: D

Thanks for your help. I try different settings. If I have someone codec / settings, with whom he worked for a similar project was happy - her damit ;-)

Your movie is 1:50 long. That is for me the average film length. I have certainly been more than 50 projects of this length in good quality on ne video DVD.
When codec you no choice - the MPEG2 is imperative - the format for video DVD 's in PAL resolution.
If you directly umwandelst - from your NLE into MPEG2 format are you doing with certainty nothing wrong.
Variable bitrate and 2-pass encoding is also very useful for this length. The exact average bitrate is auto. Put them on the level at which your movie barely fit on the DVD.
All other approaches that with a conversion into an intermediate format that are linked may only be a worse result.

I always burn CBR 8000th I have the best experience and especially in fast moving objects or camera panning. Thus fits synonymous but less material on a DVD.

Another question of mine. Which encoder is the best of a 2-pass encoding can carry out?

Antwort von Meggs:

When 2-pass encoding with variable bitrate is in the fast movements at a bitrate Hogen value, with little change of the image content to a low value. When shooting under 70 minutes, I use synonymous CBR8000, for longer shooting VBR.
The question is synonymous with the best one's budget. Professional DVD's are made with an encoder, which nobody here can afford. I personally am quite satisfied with TMPGEnc, it takes quite long, but has more Justiermöglichkeiten and my opinion is better than that of with Adobe Premiere and Encore supplied.
