Hello,
a friend of me has made recordings with a French camera. We can not cut it now that they are in SECAM and that is not supported of Final Cut. Is there any way to convert SECAM to PAL standard? As far as I know PAL SECAM only in France, Poland, Haiti, etc., of the standard. There must be a way to convert the material.

Hi,
Of PAL SECAM differs only in the type of color coding. I had a few months time a VHS-C tape obtained, on which there were scenes which should be an archive material in a video application. When I happened to tape, which appeared only in black and white film. I could not rule NTSC, SECAM, therefore, only remained. But unfortunately, this failed one MESECAM-enabled recorder.
The customer, however, apparently had a color (PAL) version of that video recordings are available and sent me to this. That was a copy with a DVD recorder (logically have been created on DVD) and showed color video recordings.
I therefore assume that with one SECAM SECAM camcorder or recorder's easy to just copy a PAL device or the AV signal of the SECAM playback devices can capture probably even directly.
Only you need to, of course, initially to be SECAM player.

Thanks for the replies. It was ultimately not a problem einzuspielen the material. We had the whole time dropped frames. These were, however, regularly, so I thought, what's wrong with the frame rate. But it was only s.dem schrottigen Medion camcorder, which we used as Einspieler.
So the times with a French Brand s.alle record: No problem.
And another CONCLUSION: Of Camcorders Medion (ALDI-house brand) are not even import the.

I still have some old VHS recordings in Secam. Around 1990 - Turning Point - still had the DFF (GDR broadcast television) in SECAM and I did once recorded there a few things, which I now present yet in this form. I have a VCR still synonymous and a TV that can switch automatically mixing of PAL and SECAM on these recordings, therefore reproduces color. More modern VHS recorders / television sets, they appear only black and white. Does your information now, that is converted to a digital dubbing to a DVD recorder, the color system to PAL auto matsch? Or only if I am with my older on calibrated to SECAM VCR playing? I ordered that is just a combination device for dubbing of VHS to DVD, but that will probably not necessarily help me? What can I do to convert the format? Is there anyway to connect an external VHS recorder to play and record with the integrated DVD recorder in PAL?

The only question now is, with what parameters the video signal from the recorder comes? The force in France (or valid been) SECAM-L is not the same as that used in the GDR SECAM-East.
Does your information now, that is converted to a digital dubbing to a DVD recorder, the color system to PAL auto matsch? That would be the goal of your project, especially since the DVD-video anyway, there is no longer SECAM. Resolutionund frame rate of PAL and SECAM are identical, only the color differs. For precisely this reason you can in this country with all VHS recorders, at least see a perfect black and white image.

As was the case, I was obviously lucky enough not only my older VCR combo supports the synonymous MESECAM or SECAM-East, for all colored Secam synonymous in color photographs were taken and, in both the VHS as synonymous in DVD part, so consequently have been converted to SECAM signals into PAL. Subsequently still thanks for the reply.
