Hello,
I want this year a video tutorial on dvd production. I would s.liebsten everything in HD or HDV shoot. because they are so compatible as possible to be, now the s.euch wonder whether it even makes sense. synonymous, the DVD is played on older equipment, or make it more meaningful, with 16:9 SD to work?

A video DVD is NOT HD format - does not conform to the strict standard (and would anyway NO on DVD player playable!)

In turn and HD to SD Downconvert. Natural a normal DVD with MPEG-2 author.

it makes no more sense to turn to DVCAM (eg Z1). then I skip the downconvert and do not have that large amounts of data, or? maybe have the possibility to use final cut, works with the downconvert in the auto program?

The size of HDV in a Z1 is identical with DV (CAM). The quality of a Downconvert, however, is much nicer view.

cut and author, I will probably the material on a macbook with "Final Cut Pro." I can convert the program directly, or do I need an external program for this?

You lay in Final Cut Pro HDV Project s.and editing your video in there (no surprise) HDV sequences.
Finally, the work you exportierst as MPEG-2 and a separate audio file using Compressor, relaying both s.DVD Studio Pro and leaves the other work that. (Compressor and DSP are part of Final Cut Pro Studio, detailed questions on the export and DVD Authoriting we can discuss later).
