Hello!
I've got footage (HDV) on Windows and recorded in Mpeg on external hard drive saved. Now the plate s.Mac angesteppselt and now I can not play movies, or in Final Cut Express editing. Error message: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file." Me missing a codec or something? Is the problem solved when I runterlade eg VLC? I mean, I could then the file in Final Cut synonymous edit if I have this player? Could I imagine that he brings the appropriate codecs.
Are the pictures on the Mac now are still usable?
Ich hab mal ne synonymous AVI file on the PC and recorded rübergeschoben, which he takes without trial.

Yes the VLC test times, perhaps missing the MAC so the general codec.

I've downloaded VLC. Can watch movies synonymous, but not in FC cut.
Another question: When I edit a movie (; DV 16:9) and I LiveType project settings, what should I take. NTSC or HDTV, etc. are nonsense. DV PAL 16:9 But there is not.

You can download the mpeg videos with a program to convert as Avi or so .. I do sometimes synonymous. Simply download a video converter then determines the folds.
Project setting: If your video resolution of 1920x1080 have HDTV, I would choose.

I think FCExpress works with HDV remains with the Intermediate Codec, right? It is true, the files are quite large, but it is nunmal.
With the free, very good program> MpegStreamclip you can open the mpeg, but unlike VLC synonymous Export> Quicktime movie as> Apple Intermediate Codec, - or (if there is at FCE with the HDV support what has done, as Quicktime HDV 1080i). Avi help you in case of HDV nothing, in principle, actually on a Mac is not more than toilet paper in diving.

This is bitter. Comfort you: Even if you have Final Cut Pro with the included Mpeg2 component did (which I had forgotten), the replacement of HDV, especially among PC> Mac nuisance.
With FC
P, the least HDV support, I can Nullkommanix with Mpeg Streamclip is compatible Mov, without loss of quality, since only in a container packed. If you Streamclip as Quicktime export at least the Intermediate Codec
display (integrated in Quicktime, it is so, FCE, but actually already synonymous with iMovie), which would be 20 ¬ mE been worthwhile.
Your Calculator (iMac?) Supported in any case "native" HDV editing, not just your NLEs. For Windows, there is no (meaningful for you) export option.
