If I have something from the old stuff to cut, one should then rather with the material in DV AVI editing program to make and then create a DVD? Or the material is stored as MPEG, cut and then a DVD?

If I have something from the old stuff will cut ... DV-AVI and cuts are easier than lossless MPEG2.
