Frage von kiki9701:Hi all,
I just dare the first steps in the DVD movie creation and setting equal to stumble over some questions from the "raw material"!
Especially I would like to bring some episodes of various TV series on DVD. These currently exist in the DivX format with various resolutions (zB640x480, 704x48 ...) and video bitrate (eg 1250, 1650, ... kbit / s)!
Since the DVD will be played primarily on non-DivX-capable DVD Standaloneplayern, I want to stop these AVIs to MPGs to convert to create a video DVD.
Now finally to my question:
Is it useful to use the DVD-standard positions, if the source material in "low quality" is present??
Or I can stand to keep the above settings when converting to MPG without quality much worse than if I were to use higher resolutions and bit rates!
Thanks already ...

The question should be: "Is it worth the effort."
The whole series but it is now spending on DVD in best quality. Without advertising, without advertising treadmill without Senderjingels and TV station ID.
On the other hand dozens of hours are s.Arbeit, transcode reprocess, re-encoding, etc. And the quality is getting worse.
In my opinion, worth the Ausfwand only in very rare recordings such as "The Tripods" or other person not broadcast series.

Hi "der_kleine_techniker"
This is certainly true, but mighty in gehtr synonymous's Money!
An equally aufwandsfreiere and relatriv best solution would of course still purchase a DivX-enabled Plays (here I would be at a data DVD but the menu item is missing).
But that's why it was not me, but once the purely technical to the background!
Can anyone make a statement ?????????????
Gruss

With Tmpgenc of divx / avi to mpeg convert, then with a DVD authoring program to create the menus. Please googling later, there are dozens of pages with explanations and to-dos

I think my question has still not arrived!!
The basic procedure is clear to me, but my concern is whether the typical DVD resolutions / bit rates (704 * 576/5000kbit/s at all) are useful if the starting material significantly "less" is !!!!!!!!! !

Antwort von der_kleine_techniker:
One can TMPGENC PAL Low Resolution Setting ".
Those would then be 352 * 288
or
PAL with 352 * 576
In the Project Wizard, simply select the desired.
If the starting material have SVCD resolution, then I would take 720 * 576th
A video format 320 * 240 can be inflated to 352 * 288 to 720 * 576 brings nothing but more space needed.

Thank you,
what is happening with the video bitrate?
Bring here a "blow up" this present to the DivX bitrate (eg 1250, 1650, ... kbit / s as well) nothing??
I think right here is generated s.meisten Space and thus may be wasted, right?
Thanks

Higher bit rate, better quality.
Make a few test runs with the material, which is available to you, then decide what you can live with.
Antwort von kiki9701:
"Higher bitrate better quality"
It is clear to me, of course, even as a layman - but this is synonymous if the source material is present only in a low bit rate!
It would be a transformation into a higher not an "interpolation"??
