Hi,
I play with the idea to switch to HDV (and the new, small JVC) in the ¬ 3k-class would 'the object of my desire.
I've now Edius 3.x blessed DV hours lying around - on the one hand, I know because I made half, on the other is the update on a current version cheaper than the purchase of a full license of a competing product. However, it advises, and since then to Vegas ...
What is the difference, which is more intuitive, faster to use? Edius update or Vegas?
And, come to Vegas (;'s get out of Edius + Storm) in a real-time Firewire data stream to control s.externen studio monitor?

Vegas is in the handling just so completely different from all others. I could never befriend them. If you can Edius, you can synonymous Premiere and Liquid and FinalCut, etc. without problems. If you are speaking of the JVC HM100, which is actually not a Full HD and HDV but just to mpeg2 (; SonyEX) instead of AVCHD and not on tape but SDHC cards.

We cut, since it gives EDIUS order and currently in version 5.11. There is no reason for me to switch and I can only recommend EDIUS.
EDIUS was compared AVID and always tending to FinalCut a special solution in the professional field. This is changing increasingly. Vegas, however, is significantly less widespread in our industry environment. This does not mean, however, that it was worse.
A cut system is only as good as the editor who works with that and it is important that the operator has experience and routine with its surface. If you feel comfortable even with EDIUS, why learn something new?

1. The 5:11 runs on Vista 64bit
2. The HM100-files (;) XDCAM EX mp4 container You can natively edit
3. Storm is no need to, if you do not need real-time output on a video monitor
4. Procoder is available in the EDIUS 5 not more. The export tool is integrated in the program. Also of HD projects can order a DVD (and then of course, play in SD PAL)

As we have Storm and Thunder cards work, I can not say that. But I do not think that the EDIUS timeline lasting prints on Firewire. But maybe someone else knows that yes.
