Hello First of s.alle,
I wanted to ask if anyone has made of you may already have some experience with different tapes in the Canon XL H1.
This is my intention to achieve the best quality and the greatest security of the recordings.

Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of working with the H1 to ...
but if you want to go with tapes on the safe side then you take the Sony tapes PHDVM-63 (NP: 17, - EUR / net), which I use with my HDR-FX1 and HVR-Z1.
You should use only new tapes and recorded cassettes, the record on generally synonymous not just once (in HDV! With miniDV is not so bad)!
've Ever before with new SonyDVM Excellence 60 (the best miniDV tapes, I think ... I), rotated, and then unfortunately on cassette drop-outs had to make, but this may rather s.den GOPs or s.der mpg processing are .... (times are now Consumer Cameras and no "real" HD) cameras.
It is synonymous the better version of the HDV tapes, the Consumer: SONY DVM-63 HD (NP: 9, - EUR / net)
In order for my next short film project on the Page to be safe, I use new PHDVM-63 HDV tapes, then an error would occur again, then it must be said clearly, one turns with cheaper HD cameras ...
But have at least the biggest security concerns as cassettes.

Hello, so we have pretty much all brand cassettes with the XL-H1, and tested the Z1/FX1. The new Panasonic AY-DVM63 AMQ has the fewest drops. It is often synonymous playable than the Sony HDV-tape for 17 euros. The AMQ has a 4-fold finer coating in Comparison to 2-fold more delicate coating of the Sony cassette.
And it costs only 7.50 euros instead of 17 euros plus VAT!
The only drawback: The cassette shell is not as nice and big.
Most broadcasters use the smaller Panasonic synonymous because of head wear. There is a difference, whether you need a new video head every year or once every 2 years. That obviously has an impact on low-usage is not so fast.
