Infoseite // Final Cut - no license for Mpeg2, Mpeg4 and H.264?

Frage von alex999:

Recently, I have Final Cut Studio 2
(; FCS3 Unfortunately, it was announced a few days later, but Apple is probably not obliging with an upgrade)

If I understand correctly, the License Agreement, there are many, many codecs in place but they need to still with manufacturers to license the code to be able to use it commercially. (; Mpeg2, MEPG4, H.264, possibly even more?)

I understand that correct?

More accurate to point 13, 14, 15 for the licenses.

None of knows it so?
I would know just happy that I now have the codecs nachlizenzieren Eg if I create DVDs for customers.

Antwort von Eimäck:

As far as I know at least you can create DVDs Buy license comply without anything. Would be rather silly Mpeg2 mitzuliefern not bundled in a program where a DVD authoring tool is included.

Antwort von alex999:

That's what I thought synonymous. But apparently not, according to license terms. There is "only for personal, noncommercial use."

Antwort von PowerMac:

I can tell you that all companies that use FCS, synonymous to use this code commercially. In practice, this is so. These points 13, 14 and 15 are pretty no preference. Apple speaks on anywhere else.

Antwort von alex999:

Sure, FCS is probably used almost exclusively for commercial and synonymous to the codecs. Therefore, I wonder whether all the film production company bought the codecs for example, Mpeg LA license? Because I do not know anyone who makes it.

Our press shop just said that the codec licensing costs in the press with it indoors and if you own DVD (; burns for nen customers), that would be included in the DVD disc with prices.

Ah, the link is as follows:

Basically, they can use any video codec for commercial purposes. It is irrelevant whether it is a consumer or a commercial broadcast format. Only the content / content they want to commercially exploit is protected. "

I mean: we can make commercial use of codecs.

Otherwise, it would indeed synonymous mean no one can "use DVD Studio" commercial, unless he buys the license for Mpeg2 codec.

what do you understand it not? you are composing your content and use of this codec and will be used commercially any further this content you need to pay a donation .. The same applies to the use of LOGOS (, DD, DD5.1, AC3, etc. ..).. to look .. on the cover of your KaufDVD or BDs

I understand it this way: just copy works must be paid.

But who should pay the license? I know of no production company, which paid something.

For DVD pressings pays (one, in general, our customer, of course) the codec licensing costs. Contained in the press costs. (; have inquired into two stamping plants.) Just as when I create DVDs with Dolby Digital. This license is synonymous contained in the press shop there and into the compression costs.

But how is it, if we create an FLV on an Internet movie? Do we as synonymous or pay a codec fee?
